Mayor Memo             

 First off, thank you to all of you who went and voted on April 3 in regards to the aquatic center referendum.  With the passage of the referendum we will continue our work on the new aquatic center with the plan of opening in 2013.  The work will start once the pool season is over.  The volunteers on the pool committee and I are very excited about the aquatic center and the possibilities it brings for our community.  So thank you once again.

 Second, for the past few years we have tried a “Pick Up Kasson” event.  The first couple times we set a specific day to meet in the park.  We then went and picked up garbage along some bike paths, in the parks, etc.  Last year we had any one who was interested go and pick up garbage on their time and the City provided the garbage bags at City Hall.  For me that seemed to work out pretty well. 

 So for 2012 we will be doing the same as last year and will kick off the 4^th

“Pick Up Kasson”.  Given the warmer weather as of late (or as of March I guess, cooling down again – don’t you just love MN weather!) feel free to stop into City Hall starting on Friday, April 13^th and pick up a bag (or two, or three) and pick an area to “pick up”. We have several parks, bike paths, etc across town or pick up in your own neighborhood.  The goal is to clean up the “leftovers” from winter and make our community a better place.  We’ll have the bags at City Hall until the middle of May. 

 I do ask that you let us know at City Hall and at my mayor@cityofkasson.com email the area you plan to pick up.  When you are done let me know where the bags of garbage were left.  That way we make sure to get out and pick them up.
